The Victorian Government has announced that Victoria will move back to Level 3 COVID-19 ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions from 8 July 2020 until 19 August 2020.
The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has written to the Chief Health Officer on Wednesday 8 July 2020 requesting direction on dental restrictions in light of the move to Stage 3 ‘Stay at Home’ orders. A letter from the Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton was received on 14 July, advising public dental services in metropolitan Melbourne are to operate at least a minimum of a modified Level 2 dental restrictions. The ADA Infection Control Committee supports this recommendation given we are experiencing a period of heightened risk and the situation is fast moving.
The dental profession has a key role to play in helping the community to manage this pandemic and an obligation to safeguard the health and wellbeing of both patients and staff.
Given this unfolding situation and escalation of the COVID pandemic, Braceless Choice has decided to postpone all face to face appointments from Friday 17 July, 2020 until Wednesday 19 August, 2020 or as otherwise advised by the Victorian Government. This decision will limit community transmission and the spread of infection to keep everyone safe.
Braceless Choice has not made this decision lightly, however in the face of this public health crisis, the health and safety of each one of us during these unprecedented times is paramount. We still remain committed to providing the best possible care and continued support for your child’s dental treatment.
Whilst we recognise that the next four to five weeks will be hard for our patients: parents and their children, as it will be for us, we can assure you that this hiatus period will not impact upon your child’s treatment.
However, if parents of our patients are concerned or require support during this time, we are offering the following services –
1.Emergency review of plates – we will be offering Zoom meetings to existing patients. Please contact Reception on (03) 9870 1659 to arrange a Zoom appointment. Please note: If you have an existing appointment this will not automatically become a Zoom meeting. All Zoom meetings require a new appointment to be made.
- For Pre- OMT exercises and Buteyko therapy we will contact patients who may benefit from this treatment option directly, to offer these exercise sessions conducted over Zoom. However, you can also contact Reception on (03)9870 1659 to arrange a Zoom appointment for these treatment options.
For all existing appointments, we will contact all of our patients in the coming days, to reschedule these appointments to after 19 August 2020*. *This date may change in accordance with Victorian Government advice.
